The GDP Model 4455 Digital RF Telemetry Receiver is a 4th-generation state-of-the-art solution designed to deliver reliable performance across a wide variety of communications link scenarios. Engineered for flexibility and cost-competitiveness, the 4455 combines multi-band coverage, advanced noise mitigation, and network-ready outputs into two compact rackmount chassis configurations (3U – 4Q2025 and 1U – 2Q2026). Whether supporting complex telemetry ranges, flight test, missile test, and launch environments, the 4455 provides the precision and adaptability needed for mission success.
Dual-Channel Flexibility with Advanced Diversity Combining Functions
Available in a dual-channel configuration with an advanced diversity combiner. In addition to the standard AGC combining capability, the GDP combiner also includes a very powerful Data Quality (DQ) combining mode. The DQ metric solves the common problem with the classic combiner: the strongest signal is not always the best signal due to multipath or other impairments. Using the DQ metric, the signals are adjusted based on a measure of their signal quality and not just their amplitude.
The Model 4455 gives operators maximum flexibility. Each channel is completely independent and capable of acquiring signals in multiple frequency bands, including:
- S- Band 2185 MHz to 2485 MHz (Std)
- UL-Band 1675 MHz to 1850 MHz (Std)
- LL-Band 1427 MHz to 1545 MHz (Std)
- P-Band 100 MHz 1150MHz
- C-Band 4400 MHz to 5250 MHz
- IF 100Hz to 80 MHz*
- Other Frequencies Available
This wide coverage enables operators to adapt the receiver to evolving mission profiles, while optional multi-band configurations expand capabilities even further.
Fully Digital Signal Processing
The 4455 leverages a fully digital demodulation and bit synchronization process. Signal acquisition is performed by scanning the IF within the programmed acquisition band, while the input waveform is analyzed for subcarrier acquisition. Once the signal is acquired, the receiver maintains continuous lock with synchronized tracking, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.
Advanced Waveform Support
The Model 4455 supports a wide array of waveforms, including:
- PCM/FM
- BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK
- SOQPSK
- ARTM Tier 0, 1, with optional Tier 2 and STC
- PM/PSK
- Other modulations are also available
This flexibility makes the receiver a versatile tool for flight test instrumentation, telemetry ranges, launch facilities and other critical RF applications.
Robust Noise Mitigation and Forward Error Correction
The 4455 incorporates advanced forward error correction (FEC) and diversity techniques to mitigate noise and maximize link margin. Available features include:
- Viterbi and Reed-Solomon coding
- LDPC coding (IRIG/CCSDS optional)
- Adaptive equalization to counter multipath distortion
- Advanced diversity combining (AGC & Data Quality)
These functions allow operators to maintain signal integrity even in congested RF environments.
Network-Ready Outputs
Designed for integration with modern telemetry infrastructures, the 4455 offers direct Ethernet outputs with support for:
- IRIG 218-10 & 20
- IRIG-106 Chapter 10/11 (optional)
- IRIG-106 Chapter 7 (optional)
- Output formats supporting downstream Best Source Selection (Optional)
Its Network Direct Modes enable downlinks to be synchronized and output, ready for use with GDP Best Source Selectors, Acroamatics decom systems, or Wideband network recorders.
